Cataract Surgery: In most cases it is a day case surgery and you will not be admitted for overnight stay. You can go home after sussessful completion of your surgery. If however, you suffer from serious health issues and if you had your cataract surgery under general anaesthesia then you may have to stay overnight in the hospital.
Glaucoma Surgery: Vast majority of patients have their trabeculectomy surgery under local anaesthetic and will go home the same day. Occasionally some trabeculectomy patients have the surgery under general anaesthesia and may have to stay overnight. Patient undergoing glaucoma tube implant surgery have the surgery under general anaesthesia and will have to stay overnight on quite a few occasions.
