'After Cataract' is the thickening and opacification of the capsular layer that is left behind after a routine cataract surgery. The capsular layer (capsular bag) acts as a house for the foldable intraocular lens (IOL) and supports the IOL.
This capsular bag may in due course become opacified and cloudy in months and years after a cataract surgery. This leads to gradual misty or cloudy vision.
A cataract specialist or even your optician can help assess you for this and you may be referred for appropriate treatment for the same.
The treatment is aimed at creating a central opening of the opaque capsule (posterior capsule) so that light can pass without any obstacle, this often improves the eye sight dramatically. This treatment is carried out using 'Yag' laser application and is performed in an out patient department. You don't have to be admitted to the hospital for the same.
Mr Raj has a long track record of performing successful cataract surgery and related after care. He can help with any queries about the condition and offer you appropriate treatment for the same if required on your request.
